International Quartet Challenge Result

A large crowd turned up for the International Quartet Challenge competition which was held at the Strathclyde Suite of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Six bands played a March, Strathspey and Reel, and also a medley. The bands competing were LA Scots, 78th Highlanders (Halifax), ScottishPower, Manawatu Scottish, St Laurence O' Toole, and the Australia Highlanders.

As a special treat for its younger fans, Piping Live! The Glasgow International Piping Festival has added a very special Family Day to its 2007 programme of events. The event will take place on Monday 6th August at the National Piping and feature activities for the whole family.

Piping Live! to Launch with Youth Concert

Piping Live! Glasgow’s International Piping Festival will stage a special launch concert on May 24th at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to unveil its exciting programme for 6-12th August 2007. For many the only experience of a pipe band will be a set competition piece performed by a band in circle formation, however this concert, titled ‘Outside The Circle’ will aim to show piping music in a new modern light. The concert will feature performances from Scotland’s finest young pipers, drummers & dancers offering an exciting mix of traditional music with a contemporary twist that will appeal to new audiences as much as lovers of the pipes.
